More than research!
The UST Stewardship Science Program uses urban agriculture to integrate ecological research, trans-formative educational experiences, and collaborative partnerships to build more just communities.
We have multiple gardens in the community (listen below) where we educate community members about our research, donate our produce, and empower students to integrate their research.
Hangout in the Stewardship Garden on south campus!
The Biology Dept. at St. Thomas currently operates in three gardens, two of which are in community spaces. Conway Community Center hosts many community gardens and is also where we have multiple plots for research. West 7th Community Center also shares multiple plots with our researches, and allows students to share gardening with kids in the community. The stewardship Garden is St. Thomas owned and is located on south campus. There is a community space in the middle of the garden and we encourage students to hangout, read or do homework there!
